Department of Geography

About the Department

The Department of Geography started its journey in 2017. With a modest start, it has been prospering steadily, as the number of students admitted per year is increasing. At present, the department offers B.A. (General) course, which has been approved by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, and the University of Kalyani has duly allowed the procedure.

The students are taught, and the departmental activities are organized by Mr. Raktim Biswas, who joined Plassey College as a teacher in 2017. The performance of the students in University examination has been quite satisfactory. The students regularly take part in field surveys. There is also a Geography Laboratory, from where students can avail modern Geographical instruments. With the active co-operation of the students, the department organizes seminars and workshops regularly. Two wall magazines were published by the department in 2018.

The department is committed to provide quality education to students, and to encourage them to take part in practical and co-curricular activities.
