The Physical Education Department of Plassey College started its journey in 2017. From the very first, it was confined to General Course. The courses have been approved by the higher education department, Govt. of W.B and are affiliated by the University of Kalyani. The department had a difficult but eventful beginning, with a small number of students but was determined to impart knowledge of Physical Education since the very first day.
The department began its ride in the hand of Md. Nasiruddin Pandit (H.O.D).
The intake capacity for this General Course, at the beginning was 10 (ten) which is now expanded to almost 60 (sixty) students.
The mission of the department is to deliver quality education, proper infrastructure, a healthy educational environment to produce quality sports person in order to represent them in higher arena of Physical Education. Keeping the higher ideal of all round development, the faculty members are dedicated and determined to encourage the students by making them participate in various co-curricular activities. We do believe in keeping the sports man’s sprit while putting special emphasis on personality development.
Within the short span of time (2017-2019), our Physical Education Department has secured some remarkable achievements for Plassey College. They are listed below.
(1). First of all, our Physical Education department of Plassey College has secured the first position in Nadia District Inter-College Football Championship, 2018-2019.
(2). Secondly, participating in the West Bengal State Inter-College Athletics/Football/kho-kho Championship, 2018-2019, for the very first time.
(3). On behalf of Physical Education Department, four (4) students represented Plassey college at Kalyani university 54th annual athletics meet, 2018-2019. There, all total four (4) positions have been secured. We got 3rd position in 1500mtr run (men & women) and 2nd position in 800mtr run (men and women), respectively.
At present, in the department, there are two teachers: Md.Nasiruddin Pandit, the head of the department and Md. Shamim Akhter.
